Grosse Point- IL #426 Lighthouse by Harbour Lights

Until the establishment of Grosse Point Light,  vessels traveling near Evanston Illinois faced a deadly shoal in the waters of Lake Michigan. This station became the first in the nation to use a photoelectric cell that automatically turns the beacon on and off using light sensors, triggering the end of the need for Lightkeepers.
