Historical Note- The 1st Navy Jack is one of the most popular versions of the "Rattlesnake Flag" which was closely identified with the Revolutionary naval forces. The rattlesnake had earlier become a distinctive symbol of the American cause and frequently appeared with the motto "Dont Tread on ME". This flag was originally called the "Continental Navy Jack" and interestingly enough has been authorized for use by our current Naval Forces.
Materials and Descriptions:
4" x 6" flags- are printed on a luxurious silk-like material. These offer the highest quality in a hand-held or desk flag. They are hem stitched on all four sides for longer lasting beauty. Each is stapled to a 3/16" x 10" black plastic staff with a gold spear top.
Nylon- Is a quality heavy duty flag material, utilizing SolarMax Nylon 6.6, which was specially developed for indoor/ outdoor flag applications. The material is treated with deep penetrant dyes and retardants for extended exposure to sunlight. No better grade of nylon is available. Nylon offers lustrous beauty, superior wear and excellent flyability in low to moderate winds. Nylon flags are generally dyed, digitally imaged, jointed, or sewn. They are finished with a heavy duty white header material and brass grommets.
All nyon flags are not equal, there are many grades of nylon, different thread materials, and stitching. We only provide flags that are double locked stitched- not single locked or chain stitched.
Lightweight Polyester- Is a very popular choice for promotional use and indoor display use because they offer superb color retention, are moderately rugged and are relatively inexpensive They are finished with a white header and brass grommets. Great for wall displays, such as dorms. Can be used outdoors for very limited applications.
Mediumweight Polyester- Is the most popular choice for promotional use and limited outdoor use because they fly in the slighest breeze, offer superb color retention, are moderately rugged and are relatively inexpensive They are finished with a white header and brass grommets.
Dying- There are many processes and we provide acid-dyed flags which allows complete color penetration to the core of the fiber, and provides a soft- but bright finish. We do not offer silk screened flags- the colors are applied to the outside of the fiber and offer little penetration or durability.
Digitally Imaging- Allows exact duplication of the image with high quality, deep penetrating inks. Generally used on 100% tight knit polyester materials.Ideal for indoor or outdoor applications.
Most images are either dyed or digitally imaged.
